Major highway changes in Trafford Park

We want to make it as easy as possible to travel along the route while we undertake this major construction project.

We’ve made a number of changes that may affect local roads in the area. Key changes include:

  • One-way gyratory in operation on Sir Alex Ferguson Way, Trafford Wharf Road, Victoria Pace and Trafford Park.
  • Closure of Sir Alex Ferguson Way from its junction with Wharfside Way to Victoria Place.
  • Temporary 'one-way' on Trafford Wharf Road eastbound from Warren Bruce Road to Waterside.
  • Temporary 'one-way' on Village Way eastbound from Parkway Circle to Village Circle.
  • From Village Way in a southerly direction for 50 metres Second Avenue, Third Avenue, Fifth Avenue, Central Park Trading Estate Access Road (Mosley Road) and Praed Road will be closed.*
  • From Trafford Wharf Road in a southerly direction for 50 metres Warren Bruce Road, Elevator Road and Waterside, will be closed.*
  • To keep local access, at least one of the roads listed will remain open when others are temporarily closed. Local traffic diversion signs will show available, alternative routes. Local businesses will be informed in advance of any temporary closures.

  • Many of the temporary changes will remain in place for approximately three years.

As well as these key road changes, there will be local traffic management arrangements at other points along the route. We are working closely with businesses and key destinations to maintain access and keep everyone informed about the traffic management arrangements as the works progress.

Update:

From 21 October 2017 to 3 January 2018, a temporary layout is in place for Peel Circle roundabout, as approached from Barton Dock Road, Peel Avenue and Phoenix Way.

Making travel easier

To keep traffic flowing as well as possible while the road changes are in place, TfGM is using a number of electronic signs around the wider Trafford road network.

These signs can provide advance warnings to road users about the works.

We have also installed several CCTV cameras to monitor the impact of the changes and we will adjust traffic light sequences where necessary.
