Christmas across Salford

What’s happening

The transport network is expected to be busier than usual over the Christmas period as there are a number of festive events across Salford. Journey times are likely to increase during the run up to New Year, so you should plan ahead if you are taking part in, spectating or simply travelling around the local area.

The Christmas lights switch on will take place in Salford Shopping Centre on Saturday 25 November.

There are plenty of Christmas crackers on at the Lowry for you to enjoy too. You can check out all the list of the upcoming pantomimes on their website

Salford Quays will be lit up for this year’s Lightwaves festival as the Daleks and Doctor Who's Tardis from the Blackpool Illuminations, a fleet of paper boats on the Manchester Ship Canal and a trail of illuminated footsteps take to the waves.

We have provided help and advice to keep your sled moving so you can prepare and minimise the impact on your Christmas travel and shopping trips. This page will be continually updated during this time.

You can find out more information on all the events on Salford Council’s website.
