Cycling and walking boost for Cheadle Hulme

4 December 2017
Cllr Chris Paul, TfGM Committee Cycling and Walking Champion at the Ladybrook Way

Work has started on an improvement scheme designed to make Cheadle Hulme more attractive and accessible to cyclists and walkers.

The construction of a section of the Ladybrook Way will see the delivery of a new and predominantly off-road cycling and walking route along the Ladybrook Valley.

Large sections of the route will be along a new bridleway which will increase the length of usable routes open to horse riders in Stockport.

The off-road and traffic-free section of the route will extend northwards from Ladybridge Road to Demmings Road. The next section will run along Demmings Road, featuring a new parallel cycle and pedestrian zebra crossing.

The route on Demmings Road will be separate from the main carriageway. Further north, a new toucan crossing will help people to safely cross Councillor Lane.

The route will then link to a new bridleway as part of the Aurora Business Park development and will connect with the Stockport and Mersey Valley Cycleway, which was completed in 2015.
