Safe urban driving lite

Who's it for?

This is for you if you work in Greater Manchester and drive as part of your work. You could be a delivery or maintenance vehicle driver, a courier, or drive a smaller lorry for instance.

Why you should do it

This half-day session, run by qualified instructors will give you the skills and awareness you need to be safe in traffic around bikes and other vulnerable road-users, and to experience the road from a cyclist's point-of-view.

What you'll learn

Through a mixture of conventional training, and by riding a bike out on the road, you will learn:

• About sharing the road, common hazards for cyclists and how to avoid them: parked cars, visibility at junctions, roundabouts and cycle lanes.

• How to avoid collisions, and how to drive and ride defensively.

• Awareness of risks faced by vulnerable road-users.

The session will include some elements of the National Cycle Training Standards, depending on your ability and experience.

What you need

We provide a bike and helmet but you can bring your own if you prefer.

Where?
