Launch of our 24/7 Control Room
In April 2018 we extended the operating hours of our control room so we could keep a constant oversight of Greater Manchester's transport network.
Greater Manchester Walking Festival
In May 2018 we helped organise the fourth Greater Manchester Walking Festival, which encourages people to get about on their own two feet.
Launch of the Bee Network
In June last year we launched our ambitious plans for the UK's largest integrated walking and cycling scheme.
Clean Air Day
In June 2018 we helped coordinate the second Greater Manchester Clean Air Day.
27 New Metrolink trams
In July 2018, we signed the contract for the 27 new Metrolink trams which will boost capacity on the network as part of the Mayor's Congestion Deal.
Farnworth bus station
In July 2018, Farnworth’s new bus station opened for its first services.
Smart Traffic Lights
In July 2018 we announced would be investing £5.6m of Local Growth Deal funding in expanding Greater Manchester’s smart traffic light system.
Taxis and PHV conversation
In summer 2018 we ran a survey to ask for people's opinions of Greater Manchester's taxis and private hire vehicles.
Autumn/Winter 2018
Wigan Bus Station
In October 2018 we opened our latest modern, secure and accessible transport interchange, Wigan Bus Station.
Free bus launch
In October we introduced later running times and new peak time services on our Manchester city centre shuttle service, which we rebranded as free bus.
Spring 2019
Investor in diversity award
In January 2019 the National Centre for Diversity awarded us Transport Organisation of the Year for our work on inclusion and diversity.
Draft Delivery Plan
In January this year we published our draft five-year Delivery Plan, which sets out our vision for all the transport projects we want to complete or explore in the next five years.
Metrolink fare zones
In January 2019 we introduced one of the biggest changes to Metrolink by introducing fare zones onto the tram network.

Fundraising
Over the past two years we raised a record-breaking £28,000 for our two corporate charities.
Relaunch of website and customer platform
During 2018 we continued to enhance our website and introduced new digital systems so that we can respond to our customers faster and more efficiently.
TravelSafe Partnership
The TravelSafe Partnership helps keep traveling on public transport across Greater Manchester safe from crime and anti-social behaviour.
Apprenticeships
Since 2017 we have employed 20 apprentices across the organisation in areas including rail, highways, human resources and design.
Trafford Park Line construction
Throughout 2018 and 2019 we continued construction of the Trafford Park Line, the latest extension of the Metrolink network.
Volunteering
To enable our staff to give their time to good causes we relaunced our staff volunteering scheme, Giving Something Back.
