Sensory impairment or learning disabilities

Do you qualify?

To qualify for this pass you must be a permanent resident of Greater Manchester and:

  • be registered as a blind or partially sighted person with your local authority. Your application will need to be authorized by the Sensory Team at your Local Authority; or you must be able to provide a CVI (Certificate of Visual Impairment) which shows your registration;
  • be profoundly deaf and without speech, or, profoundly deaf with speech that cannot be readily understood by a person who can hear normally. Your application will need to be authorized by the Sensory Team at your Local Authority;
  • have a profound or severe hearing loss. People are generally regarded as having severe hearing loss if it reaches 70-95dBHL (decibel hearing level) and profound hearing loss if it reaches 95+ dBHL; or
  • have a learning disability which is a state of arrested or in complement development of mind which includes significant impairment of intelligence and social functioning.
  • You may be automatically eligible if you have been awarded a lump sum payment under tariff levels 1-8 of the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme (AFCS) and have a letter from the Server Personal and Veterans Agency (SPVA) proving receipt of one of the above.

What happens after you have sent your application

TfGM will review your application and will either send you a pass if your application has been successful, or will contact you for further information or to explain why your application has not been successful.
