Greater Manchester’s transport strategy is an essential part of the city-region’s wider strategic framework.
Delivering a world-class, integrated public transport network is essential in enabling people to live productive and fulfilling lives; for thriving communities and neighbourhoods; for economic growth and for a green environment and sustainable future.
Greater Manchester Strategy: Our People, Our Place
We want Greater Manchester to be one of the best places in the world to grow up; get on and grow old. The Greater Manchester Strategy outlines our ambitions for the future of our city-region and the 2.8 million of us who live in the towns, cities, communities and neighbourhoods that make up Greater Manchester. It covers health, wellbeing, work and jobs, housing, transport, skills, training and economic growth
Greater Manchester Five Year Environment Plan
This Plan sets out our long-term environmental vision – to be carbon neutral by 2038 – and the urgent actions we all need to take in the next five years to help achieve this.
Greater Manchester Air Quality Action Plan and Clean Air Plan
Greater Manchester, like many urbanised regions of the UK, contains areas that suffer from poor air quality. This Air Quality Action Plan aims to bring together a robust and meaningful set of actions and measures that will bring about an improvement in air quality, to benefit the health of the population.
This sits alongside Greater Manchester’s Clean Air Plan to bring nitrogen dioxide (NO2) levels on local roads within legal limits as soon as possible, as directed by central government.
