Park and Ride
With plenty of Metrolink Park & Ride car parks across the network, it’s easy to park up and hop on the tram for a hassle free journey in and around Greater Manchester.
Parking at tram stops is FREE for our Metrolink customers, the only cost is the tram fare. It’s likely the cost of your ticket will be less than your normal parking charges too!
Metrolink Park and Ride facilities are only available to Metrolink customers during the hours of service. For more information on tram times, please click here
Overnight Parking Trial
Ordinarily overnight parking is not permitted at Metrolink Park & Ride sites. However, from Friday 4 December 2015 until Saturday 5 March 2016, Metrolink is relaxing the overnight parking restrictions at selected Park and Ride sites on Friday and Saturday nights.
More than 2,500 parking spaces will be available for Metrolink customers at 15 stops during the trial period. Customers must collect their car before 12 noon the following day. Overnight parking is being introduced at larger Metrolink car parks only – e.g. those with 30 or more spaces – this is to ensure daytime Metrolink customers can still find a space at smaller car parks.
The Park & Ride car parks participating in the overnight parking trial are: Brooklands, Stretford, Navigation Road, Bury, Crumpsall, Prestwich, Radcliffe, Whitefield, East Didsbury, Ladywell, Hollinwood, Oldham Mumps, Rochdale Rail Station, Derker and Shaw and Crompton stops. These are shown on the map below.
During the trial period, customers will be asked for feedback about their experiences as part of a full evaluation that will consider the demand for overnight parking and any operational issues. In the meantime, if you have any questions or comments, please contact customer services on 0161 244 1000.
Full terms and conditions for the overnight parking trial can be found here

Which ticket shall I buy?
If you park and ride from a Greater Manchester rail station the most economical ticket is a day return. Rail tickets are cheaper after 9.30am on weekdays and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Tickets are available from staffed stations or ticket machines, otherwise pay on the train. If you are going to Manchester then your rail ticket allows you to use Metrolink trams free in the city centre.
