Cyclists can now go online to sign up to be a member of Bury’s brand new cycle hub – for less than £1 a month.
The new cycle hub at Bury Interchange has space for around 50 bikes using Sheffield stands and also has lockers for storing cycle helmets and other cycling accessories, all covered by CCTV.
It is due to open in a matter of weeks and will be the first of a number of similar hubs being developed at sites across Greater Manchester.
Cyclists wanting to use the hub simply have to sign up to an annual membership to get their dedicated pass, which will be sent to them within ten working days of applying.
They will then simply have to ‘swipe’ their pass to get into the hub. Membership costs just £10 annually and can be applied for now by visiting our website – www.tfgm.com/cycling – which also details TfGM’s ambitious plans for supporting cycling in Greater Manchester.
A further six cycle hubs are planned for Ashton, Rochdale, Sale, Wigan, Oldham and Stockport.
Larger-scale cycle hubs – complete with showers, toilets, changing areas and lockers – are also being developed for sites in Manchester city centre and Salford.
Cycle parking facilities will also be provided at new interchanges in Altrincham and Bolton.
