Metrolink Trafford Park Line
We would like to hear your views on the proposed Metrolink Trafford Park Line
In 2008 Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) embarked on a £1.5 billion expansion and enhancement programme which has seen the network almost triple in size. This programme has already seen Metrolink extend to Oldham and Rochdale, Ashton-under-Lyne and East Didsbury. An extension to Manchester Airport and a second tramway across the city are being constructed.
TfGM is now proposing a Metrolink extension through Trafford Park.
The proposed Metrolink Trafford Park Line will provide improved public transport and access to employment, business, leisure and retail opportunities in the area, as well as connections to the wider, expanded Metrolink network.
Trafford Park has more than 1,300 businesses, employing over 33,000 people, many of whom travel to work by car. Popular retail and leisure destinations in the area include the intu Trafford Centre, which attracts over 30 million people a year, EventCity, the Imperial War Museum North, Salford Quays and Old Trafford.
The proposed Trafford Park Line will offer a genuine alternative to car travel for businesses, employees and visitors as well as supporting regeneration and economic growth.
